Fred Meyer (1922-1986) was a sculptor and playwright. Meyer was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1922, and received his art education at Cranbrook Academy of Art and the universities of Wisconsin and Notre Dame. He has taught at the Kansas City Art Institute, Wayne University, Rochester Institute of Technology, the School of Art and Design and the School for American Craftsmen. His first one-man show was held in 1949 at Midtown Galleries and in 1955 he won a Ford Fellowship for a year in Italy. He is represented in the collections of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Everson Museum, Little Rock Museum of Fine Art, and many private collections. Meyer died in 1986.
