Summary: Sixty-four letters, postcards, and notes from Cecilia Beaux; letters about Beaux from James B. Drinker, Cecil Drinker, Anna Murphy, Ernesta Drinker Barlow, Lucy Taggart, Rosamond Gilder, and Kingdon Gould, Jr.; a scrapbook/notebook from a portrait class taught by Beaux and F. Luis Mora containing clippings, catalogs, photographs, and Blake's notes from lectures by artists in New York, 1916-1918; clippings about Beaux; a receipt book and list of students registered for Beaux's class; a list of models; mailing lists for catalogs; and a typescript of an interview with Blake conducted by Columbia University Oral History Research office, 1965, including Blake's handwritten corrections.

Biographical/Historical Note

Portrait painter; New York, N.Y. Studied with Cecilia Beaux and F. Luis Mora. Blake formed the classes taught by Beaux and Mora from 1918-1927 and developed a close relationship with Beaux.
