Summary: The papers of ceramic artist and educator Don Reitz measure 11.6 linear feet and date from 1940-2015. Included are biographical material, correspondence, writings by Reitz; project and exhibition files; personal business records; scrapbooks and loose photographs of Reitz, his studio, artwork, properties, tools, and other artists; artwork including sketches and sketchbooks by Reitz and his niece, Sara, used to create a work by Reitz; and audiovisual material including recordings of performances and workshops on VHS by Reitz in the United States, Australia, Europe and Japan, recordings on audio cassettes created by Reitz while driving his car and performance by Reitz on DVD.

Biographical/Historical Note

Don Reitz (1929-2014) was a ceramic artist in Clarkdale, Arizona. Reitz was a ceramic sculptor known for his salt-glaze and wood firing techniques. He was a professor of art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1962 until 1988 and traveled extensively to teach workshops.
