Summary: Postcard, 1932; two letters, November 15, 1932, and July 15, 1936; accompanying these is a letter by Giltner, February 14, 1963, that provides some particulars clarifying the letters.
Postcard, sent to Charlotte Giltner (then Mitchell) by Mangravite from Nice, France at the time of his first Guggenheim fellowship, mentions the annual carnival, the proximity to Monte Carlo, and inquires after college activities. The first of the letters, sent from Paris, France, was intended for three of Mangravite's former students at Sarah Lawrence; Charlotte Mitchell Giltner among them. Mangravite conveys thanks for letters received, expresses particular interest in the progress of their art studies, occurrences at college generally, and reflects on French sensibilities. The final letter, sent from Westport, New York, again thanks Charlotte for her letters, relays the artistic doings of former classmates, and encourages Charlotte to continue her artistic efforts.
