Scope and Contents
The papers of artist Carl Barnas measure 0.2 linear feet, and date from 1880 to 2002. The papers document his career as a painter, etcher, and illustrator through 2 published books, "Walo Der Pfahlbauer", 1927, and "Buergerwappen in Friedberg", 1930, illustrated by Barnas; illustrated articles; lists of publications, illustrations, and articles by and about Barnas; clippings; and 57 photographs of Barnas, his family, etchings, and paintings. Also included are some posthumous clippings and exhibition announcements and catalogs.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated 1979, 2000 and 2004 by Mrs. B.E. Skipper (also known as Dora L. Skipper), Barnas' daughter. Material microfilmed on Reel 1779 was collected and microfilmed as part of the Archives of American Art's Texas project.
