Summary: The papers of sculptor and land artist Beverly Buchanan measure 16.7 linear feet and date from circa 1940-2015. Included are biographical material; personal and professional correspondence; writings by Buchanan; research files; loan files; printed material; photographs and slides of Buchanan, her friends, family and images used as source material; and audio visual material including 11 VHS tapes and one DVD of exhibitions, talks and lectures.

Biographical/Historical Note

Beverly Buchanan (1940-2015) was an American artist working primarily as a sculptor and land artist who lived and worked in Macon, Georgia.

Provenance

The Beverly Buchanan papers were donated in 2018 by Jane Bridges, Buchanan's friend and executor, as part of the Archives' African American Collecting Initiative funded by the Henry Luce Foundation.
