Summary: Office correspondence, memoranda, financial ledgers, charter and by-laws, press releases, and drafts of writings by Betty Chamberlain. The bulk of the collection (9.0 ft.) consists of index cards, alphabetically arranged by artist, and cards showing gallery and art reference information.
Biographical/Historical Note
Art organization; New York, N.Y. Founded in 1959 by Betty Chamberlain as a clearinghouse of information on contemporary artists. Chamberlain is the author of Artist's Guide to his Art Market (1970, revised 1973 and 1979 and again in 1983 as the Artist's Guide to the Art Market).
