American Art Association auctions are documented in named files, estate inventories and appraisal files, and two auction ledgers. Files often contain correspondence, sales statements, photographs of artwork, appraisal documentation, and inventory lists. Among the auction sales files of paintings are found sales records for artwork by Andreas Achenbach, George H. Boughton, John George Brown, Emil Carlsen, William Merritt Chase, Charles Gruppe, George Inness, Eastman Johnson, Carleton Wiggins, A. H. Wyant, and many others. Auction files can also be found in the Thomas Ellis Kirby personal papers' auction records.
