Series 2: Correspondence , 1912-2013
6.2 Linear Feet
Boxes 1-7

Found here is Albert and Anna Bloch's correspondence with family, friends, artists, students, museums, galleries, publishers, magazines, and others, and includes letters of both a personal and professional nature. Of note is Albert Bloch's correspondence with artists Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Emmy Klinker, Franz Marc, Philipp Fehl, and his students James Penney and Robert Sudlow. Much of the personal correspondence is addressed to Albert and Anna both, and Anna maintained correspondence with many of the friends and colleagues after Albert's death. Some early correspondence, such as letter from publisher William Reedy, is only available as photocopies. Much of Anna Bloch's later correspondence is with art dealers, museums, art historians, and universities regarding research or exhibition of Albert Bloch's artwork.
Researchers should note that some correspondence is in German.

Photograph albums include three containing photographs of the Bloch family and two volumes of Bloch's "Record Books" containing photographs of artwork with annotations about each work. Also of note are exhibition photographs taken of the first Blaue Reiter exhibition by artist Gabriele Munter.
