Jervis McEntee Diaries: November 21, 1878

We finished securing the flag staff today and now there only remains the taking away of the shears and sodding about the base. I have been at work among my old letters and have them nearly all arranged. By and bye I will look them over again and destroy some of them. The weather is very mild but threatening. Today it rained a little. Mr. Terry called yesterday and borrowed my Faust. I had a most kind and feeling letter from Calverts sister Emily today. It was a great satisfaction to be so affectionately remembered by her after so many years and through so many changes. I had a note from Mary telling me poor little Marian is ill in bed with a cold. Wrote to Mary and to Mrs. Winter.
