Jervis McEntee Diaries: April 17, 1877

Went home Friday morning. Sara, Gertrude & I had a long delightful walk Saturday. Sunday John McEntee, Girard and I took a stroll over on the bluff opposite Wilbur where I had never been before. Made arrangements with Burhans to repair roof of my house. Returned to N.Y. Monday. Today paid Mitchell for my new fly rod and settled with Baugs & Co for the sale of the Vanderlyn Engravings. Sent Miss Vanderlyn my check for $82.09 the nett balance resulting from the sale. Poor Whittredge came in very despondent. Has not done well this winter and does not think he can go to the country this summer. I know how he feels and only wish I could go and buy one of his pictures.
