Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, November 1, 1890, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, Nov 1, 1890 [from a previous entry on same page] At this time my eyes failed and I have been consulting Dr. A. B. Norton on oculist of N.Y. He forbade my going into the Maine Woods on the 15th but we went on the 29th and returned Oct 24. Have been miserable since my return and almost entirely disabled by weakness and loss of health. We built fire in the hall stove Oct 24. [The following was written Nov 1] Chestnut St. is being graded. Girard has purchased my little outside studio from Sam Coykendall and has had it moved over to his house where it is being attached. Toms house is progressing and is partly lathed. Boughton has come to America for a visit after an absence of over 30 years. [Written in another's hand: "Died Jan 27th 1891 11 A. M. of Bright's Disease. Was in bed sixteen days."]
