Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 7, 1890, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Friday, Mar 7, 1890 Very cold. The snow storm was general and it really looks now as though they may yet get ice from the river. It was bitterly cold when I went over to breakfast. All day in my studio working but with rather a depressed feeling, hardly knowing why. I dressed to call on Mrs de Forest but Sedgwick seemed to want to go to the theatre and so I gave him a treat by taking him to see a lot of nonsense, called the City Directory, at the Bijou.
