Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 5, 1890, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Tuesday, Aug 5, 1890 Comfortable day. Fine skies fine S. breeze. I made out Toms deed this morning but cannot complete and have it recorded until Calverts return. I went to Kingston and saw Hayes. I told him I was convinced the Rondout people would not consent to a central post office at the City Hall and now I proposed to circulate a petition merely for free delivery leaving the manner of it to the postal authorities. I wrote to Weir. We had a fine and copious thunder shower in the evening.
