Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, October 25, 1888, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Thursday, Oct 25, 1888 At last a beautiful, bright, mild day. Tom is picking the apples beyond the house toward the Common, while I have done a thousand things, among the rest went down town and had a man come up from Carters to see about putting a waste pipe in the sink of the upper kitchen. Have carried some of the apples for our winter supply into the cellar and sent Mary her two boxes of canned preserves and two barrels of apples. I have no time to look at the landscape.
