Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 7, 1888, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Tuesday, Feb 7, 1888 A note from Sam Avery, saying his father no longer took active part in the business, but if I cared to have his name he would be glad to serve me. Wrote accepting and thanking him. Have written letters to Whitelaw Reid, Major Bundy, and Parke Godwin hoping they can each find my collection sufficiently interesting to give me notices in their respective papers. Took down my studies from the wall and am getting them in order. Rained hard as I went to dinner and again on returning. Went to the club.
