Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 24, 1888, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Feb 24, 1888 Bowyer came down from Rondout where he went to spend the 23rd. He had had good skating. Sara was making preparations to come to N. Y. next week and Tom had already carried her plants over to my house. I went up with Satterlee to see his pictures. They had their usual interest to me, women in wooden shoes as being much more interesting than women in leather shoes. I said all I could which was not much. He is a very agreeable, gentleman and I would be glad to do any reasonable thing for him.
