Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 10, 1888, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Monday, Dec 10, 1888 Booth sent me his box on Saturday for Tuesday for 6. I wrote to Bowyers wife asking her and Bowyer to share it. Came to my room and found the work had not been done. I went down to Rogers, Peet & Co taking the overcoat I got there last March which they were willing to take back at the price I gave $25. I exchanged it for a lighter coat for $42 and paid them the balance $17. Fitch came to see me. He is going to devote himself to selling pictures, and is getting his room ready. He has taken three small ones of mine to sell for $75 each if he can. Lucy came from Baltimore this afternoon and I spent the evening with her and Mary.
