Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 12, 1887, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, Mar 12, 1887 Cold and windy. I wore my heavy Ulster over to breakfast and found it most comfortable. Worked on my picture and greatly improved it. I think now I am in my way of making a fine picture of it. Went home by the 4 oclock train. The river open to Newburgh and no snow to speak of until near Kingston where it is still a foot deep. Tom met me at the station with the two horse sleigh and Eltinge Anderson who came up in the train rode down with me. I found Jamie Goetchins visiting Sara.
