Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 15, 1887, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Tuesday, Feb 15, 1887 The weather is warm again and it rained this morning but cleared in the afternoon. I carried a lot of canvases up to my new studio this afternoon. I hope the carpenter will finish tomorrow so that I can have the room cleaned and the floor stained. Went to Dr. Taylors as usual, and to the Century in the evening where I met Armstrong and talked with him. I am very anxious to get settled. I dont quite know where the money is coming from to pay for all I am having done but it will come as it always has. I am only doing what I am obliged to.
