Sunday, Aug 7, 1887 It has finally cleared and this morning is delightfully cool and invigorating with a brisk North Wind and there seems a decided break in the uncomfortable weather. We are worrying over our tickets to Fort Bridger. I have been over to see Girard. Since, I have had such a shock. A letter from Booth from the Bay of Fundy Aug 4th in which he says he cannot let me have the money he promised me and asking rather coldly why we dont settle the estate and so get out of my worries. Well I cant wonder. I have been too great a [tax?] on him and I cant blame him. But it made my brain roll for a while. Mary and Sara urge me to go in spite of every thing. I have written to Sam sending a note for $750 in place of the one coming due Sept 3rd and a check for the interest. Girard is to give us the tickets and we are to go tomorrow night. I am in a dazed state. It all seems wild and crazy to me but I hope it is for the best. Mary and Sara seem sure it is and so I am going. I also had a long letter from Mr. Sawyer telling me all about Oscars burial and the confusion from not receiving the telegrams.
