Jervis McEntee Diaries

Sunday May 31, 1885

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, May 31, 1885, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Sunday, May 31, 1885 We have had a splendid rain all forenoon. After dinner Calvert and I went over to the cemetery to see the flowers he and Sara arranged on Gussies, Nannies, my mothers and dear Gertrudes graves. They looked quite fresh and beautiful. Although my boil begins to trouble me when I move we walked out to the View and returned through the cemetery when I spoke to Port[?] about getting our lot ready for the plants. I wrote to Miss Hallowell, Mrs. Ely, Wilmurt and sent an order for plants to Henderson & Co.
