Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, April 26, 1885, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Sunday, Apr 26, 1885 A soft, much needed rain nearly all day and open fires very agreeable. The grass is getting green and the spring coming on with great rapidity. We had radishes from the hot bed. Lucy sent Sade a copy of a letter she had received from Joe--a ridiculous document and one for which a sensible man and a just man could never write. It is astonishing he cannot see the wisdom of keeping still.
