Thursday, May 22, 1884 We had our breakfast at 6. The Landlord of the little hotel went with us and we fished two miles of the Saw Kill a rather pleasant stream. Had some difficulty about fishing over B. T. Sheldons farm but I saw him and he permitted us to fish. At about 2 oclock one wagon met us and we drove back to the hotel, had our dinner and drove down to Rhinebeck and came over on the 6.16 boat. We had 17 trout and had a charming trip. Johns engineer who was caught in a belt Tuesday had his arm amputated and when we reached the ferry we heard he was dead. It was very warm yesterday and today the first really warm days.
