Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, April 28, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, Apr 28, 1883 Fuller came in about noon. He seems to think I can try all sorts of effects in my picture and at last adopt the one I prefer. Few people I presume comprehend what is involved in the construction of a picture which shall make it a unit. I presume he will go home and write me to do this and that. He is not at all dictational and seems willing to submit to any judgment and I would like to satisfy him which I think I can do if I can satisfy myself. Went home by 3.30 train.
