Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, November 22, 1882, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Wednesday, Nov 22, 1882 Fixed the pump in the barn and put a pane of glass in Saras window, with several other odd jobs which always await the family tinker. This afternoon I have been trying a water color from my window but I make poor work of it. Sara and I called at Ned Tomkins this evening and on our way back called on the new Presbyterian minister Mr. Magee who seemed very pleased to see us and who impressed us as a genial, refined man.
