Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 14, 1882, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Tuesday, Feb 14, 1882 When I returned from breakfast this morning I found a note from Sara expressing great anxiety about my mother who has been in feeble health for some time. I am going home by the 4 o'clock train with Jamie. He and I went up to the High bridge, crossed it and returned to lunch with Julia. I am greatly troubled about my mother. Sara fears Paralysis which I have feared for some time. Jamie and I went home by 4 o'clock train. I found my mother helpless her right side having been paralyzed.
