Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 23, 1881, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Wednesday, Mar 23, 1881 At work all day in Giffords room getting his pictures ready for the sale. Reichardt called. He has not sold my picture and is to take "The Indian Summer["] (20x24) and try it. It is from my study on the outlet of Kaatskill lake. Dined at Robbins with the Council of the Academy and Eastman Johnson to meet Bridgeman. Sat at table until midnight. A very elaborate dinner and a pleasant time.
