Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, June 22, 1881, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, June 22, 1881 Emma Brace, Julia, Marion and I took a ride around Hussey Hill and returned by the river road. It was a cool beautiful day and we had a charming drive. Gus Tremper died on the boat in N. Y. yesterday. We saw them digging his grave in the Port Ewen cemetery as we came by. He was a boy with me. I saw him last summer for the first time in many years. Today I gave Sara the material for a dress which dear Gertrude and I bought several years ago at Stewarts.
