Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 28, 1881, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Monday, Feb 28, 1881 The last day of winter. Tom drove me over the river on the ice in the back board to the noon train. They are still drawing heavy loads of coal across but it is warm and foggy and began to rain just as we reached town. Attended the Council. Our talks after the business is done are very pleasant as we are a harmonious body.
