Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, November 17, 1880, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Nov 17, 1880 At work in my studio all day still painting on the picture of Gertrude. I dont seem to be able to leave it. My poor mother looks troubled and worried with the daily anxieties. I have had a touch of a sad feeling today. I wonder if it is coming back to me again. An editorial in the Tribune today will be very encouraging to Calvert for it emphatically recommends his site for the Worlds fair at Port Morris. Wrote to Jeanette. A letter from Butler asking me to be present Saturday at the proving of Giffords will.
