Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, May 27, 1880, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Thursday, May 27, 1880 Have finished the Benedick and been packing some of my things preparatory to going home on Saturday. I wrote to Stedman yesterday that I would let him have my Venetian Glass for $125 and that as it belonged to Gertrude I was very reluctant to part with it and that with what it brought I would erect a stone to mark her grave. He came today and paid me the money and was very kind and tender. Tomorrow it will go away but I shall have the satisfaction of putting a stone at her grave which I have so [?] wanted to do.
