Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 6, 1880, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Monday, Dec 6, 1880 Painted on my picture of Waste Places which I had in the Academy. A letter from Sara telling me all about her fair. Went up to Julia Dillons studio and read it to her. Prof Marsh came in late and looked at all of my pictures. He said he would come again as he seemed unable to make up his mind. Attended a Council Meeting at the Academy and did not get back until midnight. We had a pretty warm discussion about the stairs which are being built to the large gallery. I do not think it should have been done without considering it more and I dont at all see the necessity of it.
