Jervis McEntee Diaries

Saturday November 22, 1879

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Saturday, November 22, 1879, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Church and Hubbard came and staid a couple of hours. We rallied Hubbard upon the rich widow whom he is said to be attentive to and he rather enjoyed being the hero of an affair. Painted on the sky of my "Falling Leaves" and improved it. Rode over to the Elevated R.R. to 135th St. Came back and found Mary, Mrs. Stone and a Dr. Maynard in my room. Mrs. Stone told me she came to buy a picture and said she would let me know very soon which one she would like. Went to see Booth in Hamlet at Grand Opera House taking Mary, Downing, Julia, Marion and Lily Taylor. Sent my stove and some other things home today.
