Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Wednesday, May 28, 1879, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Have done very little today and doubt if I shall do much more before I go to the country, I am rather wanting for two or three people whom I expect any day and to whom I hope to sell one or two of my pictures. I sent Mr. Hoe a note yesterday to say I was at home and could see him at any time. Lucy, John & Sedgewick arrived from Wilmington today and are to stay here tonight. Genl Wilson came in with them and this is the first time I have seen him since his marriage thirteen years ago. He is a young looking man to have taken so prominent a part in the war. Carrie Wilkins (Mrs. Capt. Porter) and her husband called at Marys this evening. She is a very pretty woman and I was glad to see her again.
