Jervis McEntee Diaries

Thursday March 13, 1879

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Thursday, March 13, 1879, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Cannot work, nor get interested in my pictures. Tried to begin a small picture but I could do nothing. Wrote to Weir that I would come to see him soon. Called at Stedmans last night to enquire about the arrival of Taylors remains but they were not at home. Called at the Thurbers. Mrs. Wheeler was there and a cousin of hers, a beautiful girl who reminded me of Titian's Bella Donna. I have forgotten her name. I staid there an hour and a half and then went to Mr. Gordons reception which I found very pleasant and did not get to my room until after 12. A letter from Sade. Wrote to Alice.
