Saturday December 13, 1879

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Saturday, December 13, 1879, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Began a picture 24 x 36 upright from a study of a mountain brook Whittredge and I made together back of M[?] several years ago. Booth called and he is coming to stand for me on Monday. I am to paint him in three of his [?]. Julia Vaux called with Miss Cranford and Miss Hayward. I dined at Mr. Deforests with Mr. & Mrs. Church and afterwards went to the club. I think so constantly of dear Gertrude and suffer so much in my remembrances of her and my longing for her. Life does seem to incomplete and unsatisfactory without her. I cannot help wondering if I shall ever grow accustomed to it.
