Jervis McEntee Diaries

Friday January 25, 1878

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, January 25, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Went around to Mr. Braces office to inquire about Julia Vaux. He had just come from there and she was better but he thought put back a fortnight by this relapse. Mr. Cheney and the two Misses Cheney called on me today and looked at all my pictures. I painted on the Richard but did not help it much. Began a little head from the picture of Marian I painted a few years ago as a fisher. Went up to Eastmans and spent the evening. Joe May was there. Raining when I came back. Two days ago cold enough to freeze me. Wrote to Pinchot yesterday designating my picture belonging to Edward Cooper to go to Paris but declined to apply for it. Dont care whether anything of mine goes or not.
