Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, April 6, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Whitehead did not come and I have sent my two pictures "The year Smiles" which I called the Closing Year and the Hussey Hill November to Doll & Richards telling them my prices $1400 and $300 respectively and telling them to sell at their discretion and also explained why I did not send the other picture. Sent my "Wings of the Morning" to the Century. A large meeting. It seemed to excite a good deal of interest but very few spoke to me about it. I think however it made an impression of some sort. We dined at Platts with a Mr. [Corlus?] after which Platt and I went to the club.
