Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 7, 1877, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Went with the boys on an excursion up the river above Garrisons tunnel in their canoes. We sailed back and had a pleasant day. The river was very beautiful in the morning and many of the vessels exceedingly picturesque. Got home about 4 and directly after we had a hard shower.
