Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, May 7, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Thursday, May 7, 1874- I painted a little picture which I sent to Mrs. Pychouska last week, nicely framed and received from her a pleasant note acknowledging the gift. She has just called for a moment with her daughter. Mr. Durand called. Gertrude and I went to a grand reception by the Lotos Club given at the Academy of Music and the club house last night. Ilma di Murska sang and the entertainment was principally musical. It was a very pleasant and brilliant affair. We went to the Club this morning and saw the pictures. I wrote to my mother today from whom I received a letter on Tuesday. Received a telegram from Weir inviting us up there for two days. Replied that we could not come. Wrote him a letter.
