Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 21, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Monday, Dec 21, 1874- A perfect winter day. Two or three inches of snow and clean bright air. Sent Julia Vauxs picture to Wilmurt and painted on my figure. Gertrude is sick with a cold and I am getting the same thing. Maurice lies in his room in a state of almost stupor. I had some plain talk with my father which I think made him feel unpleasantly towards me. I cant help it for I did not speak in anger.
