Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 28, 1873, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Sunday, Dec 28, 1873- The snow lies a foot deep over all the country. While we were at dinner, a gentleman came ploughing his way through the snow who proved to be Mr. Van Derlip. He had come up to preach in the Baptist church and made his way up here. He remained an hour or two during which I showed him all my pictures when I walked down to Mr. Coopers (the Baptist Clergyman's) with him. He preaches there tonight and goes home tomorrow.
