To The Chariman of the Library Committee of Congres

The undersigned-the Executive Council of the "Arcadian Club," respectfully urge upon Congress the propriety of purchasing "Catlins Indian Gallery and Museum," to be preserved in some national depository.
The period is not remote when to American students the Catlin Collection will be invaluable.
Private institutions, even if they had the means of purchase hardly sum to be the most [p2] suited trustees of this great work which is eminintly [sic] useful and must even be the main source of instruction as to a race already nearly vanished.
