The 19 sketches are primarily pencil and ink figure studies, including closer analysis of the hand and the foot. The sketchbooks, including those entitled "Guadalope" and "Mexico drawings," contain ink, pencil, and watercolor drawings of storefronts, landscapes, and cityscapes in Mexico and possibly other Central and South American regions. One sketchbook contains images of dancing figures.
