Series of daybooks, 1950-1979 1 v.
Series of daybooks in which he records both his daily activities and religious philosophies, 1950, 1954-1958, and 1963-1979. Lassaw includes quotations, often from eastern philosophers, and his own ideas about science, the nature of the universe, and art theory. These passages are often juxtaposed with brief notations on his more concrete activities such as teaching at Southampton College and the University of California at Berkeley, and many dinners with prominent friends in the art world such as Elaine and Willem de Kooning, Samuel Kootz, Adolf Gottlieb, Arthur Kahn, and Lutz Sander. He also includes an increasing number of sketches of his work as the daybooks progress, often describing the construction processes and artistic theories behind them. Microfilm reel N69 129, frames 286-287 and 528-776, and microfilm reels N69 130, 1810.
