Malquías Montoya

Ybarra-Frausto's file on Malaquías Montoya includes an announcement for the show Malaquías Montoya and the Chicano Poster, held at La Raza Graphics Center, San Francisco, California, July 6-August 15, 1989, which paid homage to Montoya's political art.

Recognized for his silkscreen posters, an important artistic expression in the Latino tradition, Montoya inspired a generation of Chicano and Latino silkscreen artists, including the founders of La Raza Silkscreen Center (now La Raza Graphics). He represents the Chicano artist throughout the Southwest who speaks of art and the community in the same breath.
