Concilio de Arte Popular, an organization responding to various needs of Chicano/Latino artists in California, published the quarterly art magazine, Chismearte. With an international perspective as well as with a focus on the art scene in California, the magazine documented Latino/Chicano art forms arising within social struggles.
The magazine's slogan was: "Chismearte, its perception and gossip, its revolutionary art and art that is revolutionary, arte pobre y arte pa l pobre, armas y cantos, Chismearte is a molotov cocktail for your aesthetic appetite."
