Introduction
Welcome to the online version of Fiber Art: Following the Thread, an exhibition in the Archives of American Art's New York City Regional Office, July 5-October 4. Held in concert with Six Continents of Quilts: The American Craft Museum Collection at the UBS Paine Webber Gallery July 3-September 13, 2002, the exhibition celebrates fiber art in its myriad forms from hooked rugs and jute sculpture to wearable art and weaving. Through this selection of letters, writings, photographs, and oral history interviews from the collections of the Archives of American Art, we invite you to follow the threads of conversations and relationships that give meaning to fiber.
