Snapshot with note from glass artist DALE CHIHULY (b. 1941)to Francis Merritt, director of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, referring to the founding of Pilchuck Glass School, June 1971. On the verso Chihuly writes, "Howdy. Things are going just fine. I'm very happy with the students and the shop -I think I'll be doing it again next summer. My only problem is that I spent about $3000 over the grant, but it's a good cause to go into debt for (how I got to blow lots a glass, which I'm doing)." Francis Sumner Merritt papers.
